Slumberland
Creative Coordinator

Development
Slumberland was submitted to Netflix as a script written by David Guion & Michael Handelman with Francis Lawrence attached to direct, and Chernin Entertainment to produce.
A family fantasy adventure with heart, laughs, and a coming-of-age arc dealing with the grief and acceptance that comes with losing a parent, the project showed a lot of promise not only for kids, but an adult audience as well. We bought the project, developed it with the writers for a global Netflix audience, and then greenlit Slumberland for production.

Prep and Production
Slumberland was VFX and spectacle heavy, so pre-production and production were processes that had to be met with meticulous detail across very large teams. We held massive weekly prep and production calls as we locked in locations, budgets, and a shooting schedule. We leaned into Previs techniques to get a better idea of how we were going to execute Francis’ creative vision practically and with VFX.
During Principal Photography, I watched all of the daily footage coming in to assure production was running smoothly, to completion, and on schedule. We communicated daily with the line producer, crew, director Francis Lawrence, and producers in order to make sure that each shoot day accomplished what it set out to and we didn’t have to schedule any reshoots.

Post-Production
In Post, we reviewed every cut from Director’s Cut to Locked Picture, giving creative notes directly to Francis Lawrence. Later in post, we showed cuts to test audiences in theaters across the United States. I’d collaborate with our Consumer Insights team to comb through the mountains of audience data and pool common notes for Francis to consider when returning to editorial. I worked cross-functionally with our post-production and VFX teams to ensure delivery of the locked picture.
